The
Correctional Mental Health clinic at Okaloosa Mental Health And
NeuroPsychiatric Center is designed to meet the growing need for
the treatment of individuals with mental disorders who face legal
and correctional demands. Proper management and treatment of these
individuals must include a recognition of both the mental and legal
factors involved in their cases.
Corrections mental health and psychiatric services
are provided by personal referral or by referral by the court, criminal
defense attorneys, probation officials, correctional institutions
and juvenile detention centers. Corrections mental health services
may include clinical and psychological testing, psychiatric consultation,
mental health counseling and therapy, and documentation reporting.
Complete mental health and psychiatric treatment
of the mentally ill offender is available to legal professionals,
correctional probate officials, and the court to facilitate community
reintegration and recurrence prevention. Clinical management of
the mentally ill reduces the pain and suffering of the mentally
ill offender, reduces re-offense, and contains costs and risks to
communities. Correctional mental health services at Okaloosa Mental
Health And Psychiatric Center responds to the growing need for such
services.
