Medical Weight Loss Treatment Program

Excessive weight and obesity are the leading causes of many serious health problems and a leading factor in loss of self confidence, despair, isolation and depression. Excessive weight and obesity are free standing diseases and considered contributing factors to other health problems ranging from heart disease to diabetes and cancer. FOR MANY WILL POWER ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH.

The Medical Weight Loss Program is a medically supervised restoration program with its principal aim being reduction of unnecessary and extra weight, maintenance of health and restitution of the patient’s emotional well being for active and normal participation in family, work, and social life.

We recognize that excessive weight and obesity are the result of genetics, behavioral, emotional, medical and life style changes. As a result we employ multiple ways to evaluate and treat excessive weight and obesity.

Like all other medical services and procedures, the success of the Medical Weight Loss Program to a great extent depends on the willing of the patient to follow the medical instructions.

Failure in meeting these minimal requirements greatly reduces your chance for success.

The Program

The program consists of four phases:

Phase One: Pre-assessment Phase: Following admission to the MWLP you will be required to bring your available grocery bills and an inventory of the available food items at your home, car and place of your work. You will also be asked to fi ll in extended questioners pertaining to your health and activity. This information will be used along with other services during your evaluation.

Phase Two: Clinical Evaluation: this consists of a history and physical examination by the physicians and medical staff.

Phase Three: Testing: this consists of clinical and cognitive and behavioral tests including blood, EKG, urine and hormone tests.

Phase Four: Evaluation of data, medical interview and program placement: Depending on the state of ones health and the amount of the excessive weight one of the following four Medical Weight Loss Programs will be Recommended:

  1. Standard Medical Weight Loss Program: This program is usually recommended for healthy individuals with up to 10% excess weight over their ideal body weight, or (BMI 18-25, height/weight/ age/gender disproportionate body weight).
  2. Extended Medical Weight Loss Program: this program is recommended for individuals with up to 20% excess body weight over their ideal body weight. Or (BMI, 25-30 disproportionate body weight).
  3. Long term Medical Weight Loss Program: this program is a 24-36 month program that is recommended for patients with co-occurring medical conditions and excess body weight of 20% - 35% over the ideal body weight or (BMI 35-40 disproportionate body weight).
  4. Comprehensive Medical and Bariatric (surgical) Weight Loss Program: in insinuating situations this program will be recommended for individuals with morbid over weight or (BMI over 40 with co-occurring medical complications). This program is a collaborative program that includes Medical weight Management program and weight loss surgery and plastic surgery.

Cost and Financial Arrangements

Most insurance companies do not cover a weight loss program. Please check with your insurance company concerning medical weight loss coverage or call our offi ce to discuss cost of services.

What does the cost of evaluation and treatment cover?

  1. EVALUATION: The cost of evaluation covers all assessments, lab tests, EKG, Life style evaluation, Activity analysis, Nutritional and Behavior Assessment, Medical examinations and program placement.
  2. TREATMENT: The cost of treatment covers 12 months of membership at a fi tness center plus cognitive therapy, behavior modifi cations, life style changes, periodic medical evaluation, nutritional counseling and activity and fi tness training.
